Secret agent Modesty Blaise is used by the British government as a decoy in a plan to thwart a diamond heist. Modesty, however, is well aware of the setup, and has her own plans. So does the diamond thief. . .

Adaptaion of the popular comic strip is not very successful, mainly because the filmmakers took the easy route of making a general James Bond parody instead of actually adapting the strip. Plus the fact that whatever plot there is has been so artfully obscured as to be nonexistant. It does have its moments of campy charm, but is still tiresomely self-indulgent and overlong by at least a half-hour. Worth watching for Vitti's screen presence, if nothing else.
