Quadrophenia

1979

Franc Roddam
Director

London, 1964: a young man (Daniels) suffers from a split personalty and paranoia due to the over-use of illegal drugs, which in the end causes him to lose everything dear to him; but not before he becomes involved in a drug-fuelled riot on Brighton beach when he and his Mod friends battle with fierce Rockers rivals.
Incredible selection of songs from The Who make this one of the best and memorable soundtracks of all time.
How many viewers knew that the very beginning of the movie where the character Jimmy is walking back from the cliff is actually the ending of the film? I had seen the film over 30 times before I realised this!

The 2-disc Special Edition DVD includes a very informative scene-by-scene commentary from director Roddam and actor Daniels.
