William Hartnell

British character actor who played brash Cockneys in comedies until the tough sergeant of The Way Ahead in 1944 typed him in more dramatic roles. Later popular on TV as the first Dr Who. There is some evidence to suggest that he was a crowd player in films of 1931 and 1932.
