Plot SynopsisCarol Reed returned to comedy for his next film Who's
Your Lady Friend? Though the film does not have organic British attributes,
it was a reworking of a German play, Der Herr Ohne Wohnung, which had
been filmed in Germany a few years earlier.
It was a story about Dr. Mangold (Vic Oliver), a Viennese plastic surgeon and his incompetent male secretary. Fred (Romney Brent), the secretary picks up the surgeon’s latest client, unfortunately he has mistakenly brought in the wrong woman, Lulu (Frances Day) a cabaret singer. When Fred’s fiancée (Margaret Lockwood) sees him escorting her about she naturally assumes he's fooling around. Meanwhile, the doctor's wife (Betty Stockfeld) assumes the same of her husband. Boisterous romantic confusion continues when Fred gets drunk and ends up in bed with the doctor's wife. |
