Plot Synopsis

A BBC sponsored recollection of Edge of the World (1937), featuring colour bookends in addition to the black-and-white original. The film begins with Michael Powell driving into Pinewood Studios and giving a bit of history into the films making, then some of the original cast and crew go back to the island, meeting people who took part and their families. After the film there's a "where are they now" summary. Sometimes available as simply both colour sections with a note in the middle saying "The film was shown here" - then the film at the end! One last bit of Powell camera trickery. His wife Frankie didn't want to return to the island so she was filmed in their back garden in London, but the final film makes it look like she's there on the island.
